As a member of girl group f(x), 31-year-old Victoria Song has made her popstar presence known in South Korea, China and now, the world. Model, dancer, singer, actress and even writer, Song is constantly reinventing herself – and her style – to reach all-star heights.

1. She was ‘discovered’ after winning a Beijing dance competition

Song studied Chinese traditional dance at the prestigious Beijing Dance Academy (although she’s also quite keen on jazz). After coming first in a Beijing dance competition in 2007, Song caught the eye of SM Entertainment, which manages the girl group f(x). The rest is history.

2. She was in a Samsung music video featuring K-pop star Rain

At the age of 21, she was cast in a music video advertisement for the Samsung AnyCall mobile phone. The music video featured Rain, an established singer-songwriter, actor and music producer in the K-pop industry. Although a relatively unknown model at the time, her good looks and incredible dance skills catapulted her to fame in the Chinese netizen community.

3. She has amazing style

Song began her career modelling for South Korean brand SPRIS apparel but the pop star now shows off her own eclectic style on red carpets in China. Her tasteful incorporation of Korean and European designs has made her a fashion trailblazer.

4. She published a book on her travels to Macau and Hong Kong

In 2012, Song branched into the world of writing and published f(x) VICTORIA’s Hong Kong and Macau, a 260-page photo-book featuring pictures and information about her travels around the two cities. The guide features tourist hotspots like Hong Kong Disneyland or Coloane in Macau – as well as stunning photos of the popstar herself.

5. She is a dedicated philanthropist

Song’s work at Unicef is yet another example of her incredible work ethic. As an ambassador for South Korea Unicef, Song has taken part in many charity projects, including auctioning off a doll she made by hand and collaborating with other celebrities in a #HelpNepalChildren initiative. In December 2014, she curated her own personal items and opened a flea market, all proceeds from which were donated to Unicef.

6. She is currently a mentor for the women’s team in ‘The Next Top Bang’

Song is one of the mentors for an all-round talent competition where boys battle girls to be the greatest entertainer. Song is one of the women’s team’s mentors, together with Bibi Zhou Bichang and former EXO member Kris Wu.
