While K-pop girl band TWICE has been making a splash on the music scene, its agency, JYP Entertainment, has been busy working to unveil a new five-member girl band – ITZY.
The official teaser video titled Prologue film: Itzy? Itzy!, uploaded on Monday, January 21 on YouTube and social media, has already had more than 1.6 million views.
In the clip, the teenagers – Yuna, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, Lia and Yeji – catch the eye in cute and edgy outfits.
People are already familiar with a couple of them. Ryujin won JTBC’s idol competition show MIXNINE last year, while Chaeryeong is the sister of Lee Chae-yeon, a member of K-pop girl band IZ*ONE, which made its debut last year.
ITZY is all Korean and “the dream team”, said a JYP spokesperson. “We are set to reveal the project for the group’s debut soon.”
