Vegan revolution: Beyonce, Miley Cyrus and Will.I.am all agree on one thing
Celebrities are encouraging people to pursue an eco-friendly, cruelty-free way of life
Veganism has come a long way, evolving from “fad diet” status to an eco-friendly, cruelty-free way of life. It isn’t a craze – or a phase that will fade into oblivion any time soon. With all types of people embracing the empathetic lifestyle, veganism is here to stay. Even in competitive pursuits such as bodybuilding, with its emphasis on “beefing up with animal protein”, plant-based diets are widely recognised and appreciated.
We are on the verge of a vegan revolution, which is being spearheaded by dozens of celebrities. From Beyoncé to Miley Cyrus, many are encouraging people to give some thought to an animal-products’ dependent way of living. Some have been in the news lately.
1. Beyoncé and Jay-Z
The latest buzz in the vegan world has been caused by Queen B and her rapper husband Jay-Z who have launched a competition to reward one fan with free tickets for life to their concerts – if they adopt a vegan diet. The prize, announced to Beyoncé’s 123 million Instagram followers, is being run in conjunction with The Greenprint Project, a vegan campaign started by Beyoncé’s personal trainer Marco Borges. Only adult residents of the United States are eligible to enter. To make it easy for transitioning vegans, there is an option of choosing Meatless Mondays or eating at least two vegan meals a day.
2. Miley Cyrus
Actress and singer Miley Cyrus is PETA’s ‘Veganest Vegan’ and rightfully so. The Hannah Montana star has come a long way since turning vegan after her beloved pooch died in 2014. She shares her insights about veganism on social media and won more hearts with her vegan wedding last year with Liam Hemsworth. Speaking to E!News during MusiCares Person Of the Year Gala, the cruelty-free living advocate said she cared more about vegan dumplings than her wedding dress. She even has a tattoo dedicated to the vegan cause.
