With Asia experiencing Ed Sheeran mania this month as he tours the region, we discovered 11 things you might not know about the British superstar. Sheeran is in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow, Hong Kong next Wednesday and Thursday, before heading off to South Korea, Osaka and then Singapore, Bangkok and Jakarta later in the month.
1. He secretly married his childhood sweetheart, Cherry Seaborn, in December 2018 in front of 40 close friends and family.
2. Ed Sheeran started singing in the church choir at the age of four and learned to play the guitar at 11.
3. He released an EP at age 14 and in 2008 at the age of 16, moved to London and performed over 300 live shows in 2009, after the release of his self-named album.
4. His debut song The A Team sold more than 58,000 copies in its first week. The video only cost £20 (HK$200) to make.
5. He became best buddies with Taylor Swift, and has penned songs for her albums Red and Reputation.
