  • Fans capture the moment of improvisation in photos and on video at four-member girl group’s New Jersey performance in the US, during its current world tour

K-pop star Jennie briefly appeared to stun other members of the girl group, BLACKPINK, with some improvised choreography during last week’s concert in the United States.

Jennie turned her back on the audience to face her fellow South Korean band members, Jisoo, Rosé and Lisa, while they were performing the song, As If It’s Your Last, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, last Thursday, during their BLACKPINK World Tour (In Your Area) series of concerts.

Jennie’s sudden improvisation left Jisoo and Lisa looking dumbfounded, with the moment captured on photographs taken by fans close to the stage, which were later posted on Twitter.

However, one concertgoer's video, posted on YouTube – watch from 6.45 below – shows Jennie’s moment of mischief was carefully timed so that it fitted in perfectly with the lyrics of the song’s final chorus, “I will never look back”.

The change to the BLACKPINK’s precisely choreographed performance came on the second of two concerts in New Jersey.

The British singer-song writer Dua Lipa, who worked with the band on the song Kiss and Make Up, which was released in October 2018, was a special guest during the first concert.

The group, which became the first K-pop female group to perform at the annual Coachella Festival in Indio, California, with two concerts on April 12 and 19, continued its current world tour with a concert on Sunday in Duluth, near Atlanta, Georgia.

The group will end its US performances in Fort Worth, Texas, on Wednesday, before moving to Europe for dates in the Netherlands, England, Germany, France and Spain, from May 18 to 28, followed by a concert in Macau’s Cotai Arena on June 8.
