How the world's first vegan hotel suite at Hilton London Bankside is helping animal lovers sleep easy

Food design firm Bompas & Parr creates bedroom, bathroom and living room without leather, wool, feathers or other animal products, says Ayushi Kothari
The vegan trend has literally left me spellbound.

Crafted from solely plant-based materials, the suite is now available for bookings at the five-star Hilton London Bankside hotel, in Great Suffolk Street, close to the Southbank Tube station and the River Thames.
The standard assortment of materials that you would expect to find in any other hotel room, from leather and wool to feathers – indeed anything non-vegan – are absent from this suite.

Pinatex, a vegan-friendly leather alternative – made from fibres sourced from waste pineapple leaves – has finally made its debut on the hospitality landscape.
The suite, which features a large bedroom, sitting area and bathroom, uses the fruit leather on its grey settee, red scatter cushions and the bed headboard.

The design has been carefully thought through, and everything from cotton carpets and footstools to scatter cushions and the headboard have been made from the animal-friendly product.
