Visit to jaw-dropping, Bali-inspired space in Causeway Bay helps writer to become calm as the weight of the outside world recedes

Mystical. Otherworldly. Enlightening.

These are words I never thought I would associate with a wellness hub in the heart of Hong Kong – but a visit to the new Fivelements Habitat in Times Square, Causeway Bay, took me beyond a special moment, to a place of tranquillity. I found the experience one of spiritual awakening and total human connection.

What is it?

It is a jaw-dropping space to behold, in a city where space is a luxury. From the beautiful wood panelling lining the entrance, furnishings shipped in from Bali, and Sakti Elixir Bar, its in-house plant-based cuisine cafe, to the range of rooms available for the meditation and yoga classes on offer, Fivelements’ identity is clearly rooted in Bali.

Meditation practitioners would rejoice at the transcendental meditation offered; and if you’re into moon phases, you will love the new moon meditation they have planned.

If you are not one for the woo-woo of spirituality and the universal law of attraction, hear me out. Fivelements was founded by Chicco and Lahra Tatriele, whose serendipitous meeting is the embodiment of the magical quality Fivelements holds. Lahra has just released a blog about how she met Chicco and came to start Fivelements in Bali – the luxury wellness lifestyle company has a retreat in Bali and a Habitat version, one located in Hong Kong.

Lahra wrote in her blog: “Chicco and I spent the next three glorious weeks together before he had to return to his native Italy. One day he texted me in the middle of the night from Milan. Strangely, I’d been up recording a vivid dream in my journal about running a healing centre in Bali. It had been a long-held wish of mine since my first ever visit. ‘It’s not just a dream,’ said Chicco. ‘It’s real, and I have a similar dream’.”
