NewChina reiterates safety warning to its citizens in the Philippines
Third attack against Chinese national in a week prompts embassy reminder about adopting precautions

The Chinese government has again cautioned its citizens in the Philippines to be mindful of their safety in the wake of a Chinese national being seriously injured by a gun shot on Saturday in the northern part of that country.
The victim, who sustained life-threatening injuries when he was shot in Meycauayan in Bulacan province, is the third Chinese citizen attacked in the Philippines over the past week.
On September 8, Lin Han Zhang, 43-year old Chinese national was about to board a light rail train in Manila when he was kidnapped by two policemen allegedly from outside the city. He managed to escape when the officers were asleep.
Three days later, an 18-year-old Chinese national was abducted at his family-run store by six armed men in the southern Philippines and has been missing since.
“The embassy has again reminded Chinese citizens in Philippines, based on the current security situation, to adopt precautions to protect their personal and property safety,” a notice posted on the website of Chinese embassy in Manila on Sunday said of the latest incident.
Last week, China’s National Tourism Administration and Ministry of Foreign Affairs advised Chinese tourists to avoid travelling to the Philippines. Authorities said security in the Philippines was deteriorating and Philippine police had confirmed that attacks against the Chinese embassy, consulates and Chinese-owned companies were being plotted.
