Corrupt cadre caught with 100m yuan in cash named as Ma Chaoqun
Ma, the former general manager of a state-owned water supply company, also held a portfolio of 68 properties and 37kg of gold when graft investigators finally caught him

The corrupt official in Hebei province who stashed more than 100 million yuan (HK126 million) in cash in his flat plus 37kg of gold has been named as Ma Chaoqun, the former general manager of a state-owned water supply company.
He was also found to have a portfolio of 68 properties in cities including Beijing when graft investigators finally caught up with him, Xinhua reported.
Ma has been accused of taking bribes and embezzlement. He was in charge of water supply at the seaside resort of Beidaihe .
The cash found in Ma's house would have weighed at least 1.3 tonnes, according to Xinhua, given that the 100 yuan note is the largest on the mainland.
State media announced some details of the case earlier this week, without naming Ma.
A source at the Hebei procuratorate told the Southern Metropolis News an investigation into his affairs was launched in February and several hundred people were involved.
The head of the water company told the newspaper that Ma was taken away by local anti-corruption officials the same month and that other government staff were surprised. Ma was officially sacked on February 18.
