Stranded Chinese worker caught using rice cooker at Hong Kong airport finally makes it home
Video of passenger cooking went viral after he had nodded off, missed his connecting flight and could not afford to buy food at the terminal

A migrant worker from eastern China, who became a hit on the internet after he rustled up a meal on his rice cooker when he was stuck in a departure hall at Hong Kong’s international airport, has finally returned home safe and sound and thanked everybody who came to his aid.
Wu Jiayong had been working as a construction worker in Singapore for a month, but he dozed off and missed his connecting flight in Hong Kong on his way home to Laiwu in Shandong province.
He had sent most of his money home and after he paid for a replacement flight and only had between HK$20 and HK$40 in his pocket.
A video clip of him preparing a meal with his rice cooker near a bakery in an airport departures hall immediately went viral after it was uploaded on to the Apple Daily newspaper’s website over the weekend.
Wu’s solution was to make his own meal. He thought the rice cooker in his luggage had rice in it and he figured he could get water from the toilets.
