GUANGDONG – The story of a young man. whose dream of cycling round China was halted after his bike was stolen has a happy ending, the Southern Metropolis News reports.
Shenzhen police recovered Wang Pingan’s bike after it was taken by a thief in Guangdong province on Wednesday - the 460th day of his trip.
Wang, from Guangxi, had locked up his bike outside a mall in Shenzhen’s Huaqiangbei shopping district on Wednesday. When he returned after 10 minutes, it was missing.

Shenzhen was Wang’s second-to-last stop before going to Hainan province, and then home.
Police detained the suspected thief on Thursday, who had reportedly already sold the bike, but later recovered it.
 A large number of people had offered to buy Wang a new bike after reading about the theft, but he politely refused. “The old bike was something special to me.”

Two passengers detained at Shenzhen airport over flight delay fracas
GUANGDONG – Two passengers were detained in separate incidents at Shenzhen airport this week for allegedly damaging boarding-gate equipment after their flights were delayed, the Southern Metropolis News reports.
On Monday night, a woman, 21, travelling from Sichuan, poured a bottle of water on the public address microphone after being told her flight would be delayed for about 45 minutes. She has been detained for 15 days.
At midday on Wednesday, a man travelling from Shenzhen reportedly smashed the microphone of a public address system on the ground, after airline staff told him his flight would be delayed. He was detained for 10 days.
Since January, police at Shenzhen airport have dealt with 10 cases in which passengers reportedly intentionally disrupted public order. Seven of these people have been detained.

Woman downs 3-litre bottle of wine at border rather than pay duty
MACAU – A middle-aged woman gulped down a full double magnum  bottle of red wine to avoid paying duty on the three litres of alcohol while waiting at the customs checkpoint at Macau’s Gongbei Port last Thursday, Xinhua reports.
She became intoxicated and was then seen falling to the floor. It is not known what happened to the woman, or whether she needed medical attention.   

Wife's misery ends in some joy
JIANGSU – A married woman tried to kill herself with an overdose of sleeping pills when her husband asked for a divorce because she could not get pregnant – only for doctors to find she was already one month pregnant, the Yangtse Evening News reports.
The woman from Nanjing had argued with her husband after she found he had been cheating on her with another woman.
He claimed he had been unfaithful only because she had failed to fall pregnant during the first year of their marriage.
After he told her he wanted a divorce and left their home she took an overdose of pills.
She was rushed to hospital after being found unconscious by police.
Doctor removed a small quantity of pills from her stomach and said neither she nor the one-month old fetus had been harmed.

Man stole friend’s stingrays – only for them to die within a day
ZHEJIANG – A man allegedly stole seven stingrays reportedly worth 122,000 yuan (HK$154,000) belonging to his friend to keep in his aquarium, only for all the fish to die within a day, the Qianjiang Evening News reports.

A resident in Hangzhou discovered the stingrays missing from his tank after a break-in at a rented room close to his home.
Later he was shocked to discover one of two alleged thieves detained by police was a friend who had bought six stingrays from him in the past.
The newspaper reported that the alleged thief claimed to have stolen the stingrays as revenge after two of the fish he had bought had died within a few days.
