A group of middle-aged men and women danced around their cars while they were stuck in a traffic jam in western China, a news website reported.

Some of the dancers also held a dancing contest when they were forced out of their cars through boredom in Yunnan province on Wednesday, 163.com said.

Villagers living nearby sold food to the motorists stuck on the road between Kunming and Dali as police cleared the scene of an earlier accident, the report said.

The sight of middle-aged and elderly people dancing in public areas is a common sight in China, although they usually congregate in more orthodox venues such as parks and in public squares.

Media on the mainland regularly report on disputes caused by dance groups in public spaces, usually complaints from people living nearby about the noise or blocked access to their homes, cars and businesses.
