Impoverished Chinese migrant workers sleeping rough under city's highway flyovers

More than 100 migrant workers in a city in northern China are sleeping rough under highway flyovers as they struggle to make ends meet, a news website reported.
One of the migrants in Zhengzhou in Henan province was quoted as saying that most of them do odd jobs and have little cash for food or accommodation, People.cn reported.
The worker said they were routinely told to move on by urban management officials, but later returned after the enforcement officers had gone.
The website’s reporter said the workers slept close to the edge of the road as trucks sped by.
An elderly man was killed last month in Zhengzhou after he was run over by a car while sleeping on the road near the entrance to a car park.
He and his wife had come to the city from a nearby village to sell fruit and had slept outside to save money.
