Thick as thieves: Chinese armed robber caught because bag of stolen cash was so heavy he couldn’t make his getaway

A gunman who tried to rob an armoured security truck outside a bank in northern China was caught because his bag of stolen cash was so heavy he couldn’t lift it on to his getaway bike, a newspaper reported.
The robber, Luan Liming, tried twice to lift the bag onto to his bike in Huludao in Liaoning province, but failed, the Shenyang Evening News said. He was then nabbed by security guards.
The bag contained about 1.7 million yuan (HK$2 million) in cash plus notes in other currencies and weighed nearly 90 kg, according to the article.
Luan attacked a guard last March as he was carrying a bag of cash from the truck to the bank.
Luan pointed a pistol at him, but the guard refused to hand over the money.
Luan shot the guard in the leg, snatched the bag and dragged it to his motorcycle, the report said.
