Poet-artist in China sets off in search of inspiration, gets stuck on cliff for five hours instead
Journey of self discovery ends in realisation that one should not climb cliffs without mountaineering gear

A self-proclaimed poet and artist in China spent five hours trapped on a cliff in a deserted quarry which he was attempting to climb in search of inspiration, local media reported.
The man, in his 40s, attempted to climb the 90m cliff in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, with no climbing gear, on Thursday morning, the Qianjiang Evening News reports.
But 60m up he became stuck – with no way up or down – and had to call the police for assistance.
Firefighters went to the top of the hill from the gently-sloped other side and rappelled down to fetch him. But a strong wind caused the rope to sway wildly and several attempts failed before a firefighter was able to reach him.

The rescue took five hours, during which the man’s forehead was grazed by falling rubble.
