Mac attack: customer suffers suspected organ damage from drink containing disinfectant
McDonald's accepts responsibility after employee in China uses hot water from boiler that was still being sterilised
A customer at a fast food chain southwest China suffered organ damage after drinking hot beverage that contained disinfectant, according to a local newspaper.
The customer, identified by his last name Feng, had ordered a child’s lunch his four-year-old son at a McDonald's outlet in Chongqing on Monday, the Chongqing Evening News reported.
After taking a sip of a cup of hot chocolate that came with the set, the boy stuck out his tongue, shook his head, and refused to finish the rest of the drink, Feng said.
“I thought it the drink must have been too hot and told him to let it cool down,” Feng told the newspaper.
But when his son finished his meal, he left the drink untouched. He took a big swig of the drink, which tasted sour, and thought someone may have added lemonade to it by mistake.
