Chinese boy rescued after falling into ventilation shaft on top of high-rise block
Child emerged with only scratches after accident in Guizhou province
A 13-year-old boy was rescued by military firefighters in southern China after he fell into a ventilation shaft on top of a 33-floor building and got stuck.
The accident happened on Friday evening when the boy and two of his friends were playing on the roof of a residential building in Guiyang in Guizhou province, the local fire department said in a statement on social media.
The boy stood on the cover of the shaft, which gave way and he fell.
His friends contacted the police.
Photographs released by the authorities show the boy holding a rope after he got stuck in the vertical shaft.
It took police and firefighters 15 minutes to get him out.
The statement did not say how far the boy fell.
He was only slightly injured, with scratches to his feet.
It is not clear whether the property management company will face any punishment for any safety breaches.
