A courier who blew the whistle on a foreign drug-trafficking ring in China has been rewarded 190,000 yuan (HK$221,000) for his efforts.

The man’s report about the drug traffickers, who hid methamphetamine in the heels of women’s shoes, helped Guangdong police bust the syndicate, Nanfang Daily reported.
The methamphetamine, also known as the drug Ice, were meant to be sent from Guangzhou and Dongguan to southeast Asian nations.
The five traffickers, who were from African countries, were arrested last month, the report said.

The courier was presented with awards and a cheque for 190,000 yuan from the Guangzhou police authority on Tuesday.
He wore a mask to the event, according to the report.
