Chinese mother and daughter rescued after falling through faulty manhole cover
Mother was carrying young girl in her arms, which protected the child from injury
When a woman in southeast China fell into a four-metre-deep hole in the road with her two-year-old daughter, she instinctively protected the girl by holding her in her arms, mainland media reported.
Thanks to the mother’s action, the girl was unscathed in the accident although the mother suffered a serious injury to her waist, according to the China Youth Daily.
The accident happened on Saturday night when the woman, surnamed Fu, was on her way to a supermarket in Sihong county in Jiangsu province with her two daughters.
She was holding the younger girl in her arms while walking on the street when she stepped on a wooden manhole cover that suddenly broke, plunging her and the young girl into the hole.
