Chinese tourists apologise after being publicly shamed for leaving Airbnb rental looking like a tip
Students had left rubbish piled up in a flat in Japan and scrawled rude messages in guest book
Three Chinese tourists have issued an apology after they were publicly shamed by mainland media for leaving an Airbnb rental in Japan in a filthy condition.
Photos of the mess the three young women left were posted on the internet by the flat’s Chinese owner and were quickly picked up by a variety of mainland media outlets and widely discussed on social media.
The three students, all aged 19, made a public apology on Tuesday, apparently under public pressure, and acknowledged their “mistake”.
“We now want to seek forgiveness,” one of the three posted on Weibo.
“Maybe it’s too late. Maybe we deserve it. But we are sorry and we are trying our best to solve the problem.”
Their attitude marked a dramatic turnaround from the previous day when they appeared unrepentant about the condition of the Osaka flat after their five-day stay.
Cheng said when he went to clean the room on Monday after the three tourists had checked out, he found waste strewn everywhere and a strong smell of rotten food, Beijing Youth Daily reported.
