A young Chinese boy was left stranded at a service station as his parents drove off without him after a comfort break.
Video footage posted online captured the six-year-old’s futile chase after the car as it left the service station near Zunyi in Guizhou province late last month.
Guizhou Television reported that a kind-hearted motorist found the boy and dropped him off at a toll station, where officials reported the case to the police.
Zhang Yun, an officer at a nearby police station, said that while he was on his way to the toll station to pick up the boy, he received a report that a couple had lost their child. “I thought it might be the same kid,” he told the TV station.
Half an hour later, the couple arrived at the police station. The boy rushed towards them and shouted “Mum” when seeing his parents, Zhang said.
The police verified the couple’s identity before returning the boy to them, the report said.
