The father of a farm owner suffered an electric shock yesterday while trying to save three goats on a Sheung Shui farm and orchard.
Yan Fuqing, 39, said her father, 62, came from Chongqing in June to visit her family, which runs the 500,000 sq ft organic farm that is open to visitors at Tit Hang, off Ma Tso Lung Road.
She said her father had heard a goat bleating at about 12.40pm, and found three animals on the ground. He received an electric shock when he touched one of the goats.
One, which was pregnant, was dead, and the other two were injured. Wires were found next to them. The man sustained burns to his arms and was taken to North District Hospital where he was released after treatment. The two goats survived.
Officers found two wires connected to a power supply from the house of a neighbour.
Yan, who married a Hongkonger and moved to Hong Kong in 1997, said her father saw a man fleeing the scene with wires. She said the suspect was a neighbour whom they had known for years.
