- No 3 warning signal cancelled at 9.10am on Saturday, with typhoon downgraded to a tropical storm
- Cloudy and dry weather expected, with occasional rain
The Hong Kong Observatory cancelled all typhoon signals at 9.10am on Saturday, but kindergarten classes would remain suspended, according to education authorities.
The forecaster lowered the No 3 warning signal, issued on 12.20am on Friday, after Typhoon Saudel was downgraded to a severe tropical storm as it moved away from the city, across the South China Sea towards the vicinity of Hainan Island and central Vietnam.
The Education Bureau said kindergarten weekend classes, including afternoon sessions, as well as lessons for children with physical disabilities and schools for children with intellectual disabilities would remain suspended on Saturday.
The Observatory warned there would be rough seas and occasional gales on high ground, with the city still under the influence of the northeast monsoon. Members of the public are advised to stay away from the shoreline and not engage in water sports.
Cloudy and dry weather is expected, with light rain later in the day.
It will still be windy on Sunday amid sunny intervals. The weather after the weekend will be fine and dry.
