A decomposing body was found washed up on a beach at the southeastern tip of Hong Kong Island on Saturday, sparking a police investigation.

A passer-by spotted the corpse, of a man police estimated was in his 30s, on a beach near Lap Sap Wan at Cape D’Aguilar at about 6.40pm, a police spokesman said.

The dead man was of medium build with short black hair. He was wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and black trainers.
