Hong Kong’s national security police have detained and charged two people with alleged conspiracy to print or give out seditious publications.
Officers from the force’s National Security Department arrested a 17-year-old boy and a 45-year-old woman in Sham Shui Po and Western district, respectively, on Sunday, police said late on Monday.
The pair have been charged under the Crimes Ordinance with conspiring to print, publish, distribute, display or reproduce seditious publications.
Police did not provide details about the materials involved.
The pair will appear at West Kowloon Court on Tuesday afternoon.
Anyone convicted of the crime faces a maximum fine of HK$5,000 (US$641) and two years’ jail for a first offence, and three years for subsequent ones.
