A second Hong Kong woman has died of injuries suffered in a fire at a public housing flat after an argument started among four sisters over the sale of a property.

The youngest, 46, who suffered major burns and whose condition was listed as “serious” died at 5.41pm on Tuesday in the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sha Tin.

The 58-year-old oldest sister, surnamed Wong, was certified dead at 11.34pm on Monday in the same hospital, after she suffered burns to 70 per cent of her body.

The second and third eldest sisters, 53 and 51, were said on Monday night to be in stable and critical conditions, respectively, in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Monday night. The 51-year-old suffered knife wounds to her stomach as well as burns.

A police spokesman earlier said the fire broke out in a flat in Lok Shun House at Tsz Lok Estate in Tsz Wan Shan after the sisters fought over the sale of a property.

The oldest sister was said to have attacked one of her sisters with a knife.

She was arrested on Sunday for wounding and police said at the time the case had been referred to the Social Welfare Department.

The Fire Services Department said the area of the fire was six metres by five metres (20 feet by 16 feet), and that the living room, bathroom and kitchen suffered major damage.

A department spokesman said the cause of the fire was suspicious and the case had been referred to police for investigation.
