Several Hong Kong insurance companies have been targeted in a series of anthrax scares, causing business disruptions and prompting responses from police’s bomb squad.

An employee at AIA Financial Centre on Prince Edward Road East in San Po Kong filed a report at 12.40pm on Wednesday after receiving an envelope containing white powder and labelled “anthrax”.

Police evacuated about 50 people to the ground floor, with the explosive ordnance disposal bureau deployed to examine the substance.
