Hong Kong cleaners allegedly faked work records by posting and removing bills
Video clip shows cleaners in Baguio uniforms attaching fliers to signposts in Sham Shui Po, taking photos as proof before tearing them down
Hong Kong’s environmental hygiene authorities have said they will alert police after contract street cleaners allegedly faked work records by posting and removing self-made fliers.
The case came to light when Roni Wong, founder of a boar concern group, shared a video clip on Facebook, which showed cleaners attaching bills to signposts on a street in Sham Shui Po on Saturday, taking photos as proof of work before tearing them down.
The workers wore uniforms of Baguio Cleaning Services Company, a contractor for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department. The company, a key player in the sector, is a subsidiary of the listed Baguio Green Group.
“If the investigation confirms the incident, the [department] will hold the contractor liable in accordance with the contract, which may include the deduction of service fees, and record the incident as a factor for future service procurement consideration,” a spokesman said.
