Hong Kong police arrest man after knife attack leaves 2 critically injured
Suspect held after allegedly launching a brutal and seemingly random attack on two victims in a park in To Kwa Wan

Hong Kong police have arrested a man a day after he allegedly attacked two park-goers in To Kwa Wan, leaving both critically injured.
Superintendent Gar Kam-lam of the Kowloon West regional crime headquarters said on Sunday that the suspect was believed not to know the two victims – aged 24 and 37 – and there was no indication of any conflict between them before the attack.
According to police, the victims arrived at a pavilion in Hoi Sham Park on Yuk Yat Street around noon on Saturday, while the suspect, a 31-year-old homeless man known to frequent the park, had been sitting nearby.
Also present was a man in his seventies.
The suspect was watching videos on his phone alone, with all four sharing the area peacefully for about 30 minutes before he suddenly produced what appeared to be a fruit knife – described as smaller than a palm – and launched the attack at around 12.30pm.
After the assault, the suspect fled along the park’s waterfront towards Chi Kiang Street and was seen throwing the knife into the sea, Gar said.
The younger victim suffered about 10 wounds to his neck, chest, back and arms. His companion suffered three injuries to the neck and shoulders.
