Hong Kong police investigate alleged HK$3.88 million diamond theft
Police say they were alerted at 3pm on Thursday that a gem had vanished from a company safe on Sung On Street

Hong Kong police are investigating an alleged theft of a diamond worth US$500,000 (HK$3.88 million) that reportedly went missing from a company safe in To Kwa Wan.
A man contacted the force at about 3pm on Thursday and said the gem had vanished from a safe in Peninsula Square on Sung On Street.
The man said the diamond was valued at US$500,000.
The Post learned that the company in question is Sheetal (Far East), the Hong Kong branch of Sheetal Group – a diamond manufacturer established in 1985 and headquartered in Mumbai, India.
The group sources rough diamonds from major mining firms such as De Beers, Rio Tinto, and Alrosa, and processes them in-house.
Officers visited the scene and started an investigation.
