Hong Kong Disneyland has once again pitched in to help Operation Santa Claus to deliver the magic of Christmas with a postcard service featuring some of the company’s most-loved characters.

The “Holiday Wishes Charity Postcards” fundraiser, back for the fourth year in a row, will send out tens of thousands of Christmas wishes to the family and friends of resort guests.

The cards will cost HK$10 (US$1.2) each and all the proceeds will be given to OSC, a joint charity drive organised by the Post and public broadcaster RTHK, now in its 35th year.

“This year, guests can purchase four new Disney festival-themed postcards, which include the beloved Duffy and Friends franchise and their new friend, Lina Bell,” Mary Lam, the director of merchandise at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, said.

Lam added guests at the resort would not only be able to send good wishes to loved ones, but also bring a smile to the faces of those in need.

“Hong Kong Disneyland Resort is honoured to continue delivering these Christmas blessings to the community through the OSC donation which allows guests to actually help others while sending Christmas wishes to their loved ones,” Lam said.

The theme park has also launched a range of other programmes to help people in need and bring the magical spirit of the holidays to many more people, in addition to its support of the 15 worthy causes backed by OSC this year.

The initiatives include a toy donation programme which uses a “1+1” strategy.

Lam explained that for every toy donated by the park’s cast members, the merchandise team will donate another, and it is estimated that about 10,000 gifts will be donated, bringing festive joy to children in need.

The debut of Lina Bell, Duffy’s new friend, is also one of the charitable initiatives launched by the park this year.

Lam said that for each purchase of a Lina Bell cushion and blanket set, the resort will give HK$50 to a charitable organisation set up to grant the wishes of terminally-ill children.

Other charity fundraisers included this year are “Community’s Got Talent” performances and celebration of the 30th anniversary of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD).

“The talent show is set to return this year and will feature 12 local community choirs and music groups on different days and the celebratory event of IDPD will feature an inclusive cavalcade at the park with over 100 people of different abilities taking part and showcasing their talents,” Lam said.

“Christmas is a celebration of love and joy. Our initiatives are designed to specifically serve our community through bringing the magical holiday spirits to everyone,” she added.

OSC has raised a total of HK$353 million to support the Hong Kong community through 323 charitable projects since its foundation in 1988.
