Water supply for Hong Kong’s northern Tuen Mun shut off from 11pm
Authorities say decision made so engineers can carry out emergency repairs after water seepage reported on Tuen Mun Road

The water supply for the northern part of Hong Kong’s Tuen Mun was suspended at 11pm on Tuesday, after an underground pipe leak left two lanes along a major road temporarily closed.
The suspension affected at least 23 residential estates and two hotels.
The Water Supplies Department said it aimed to fully reopen Tuen Mun Road before the Wednesday morning rush hour, adding that it was working hard to complete the repairs.
The Hospital Authority’s New Territories West cluster earlier said that services at Tuen Mun Hospital, Castle Peak Hospital and Siu Lam Hospital would be unaffected by the supply suspension as the department had dispatched several water wagons.
Authorities announced the water suspension at around 8pm, with the move intended to facilitate emergency repair works at Yuen Long-bound lanes on Tuen Mun Road.
Some of the lanes near Siu Hong MTR station were closed after reports of water seepage emerged on Monday night.
