Bus struck stationary maintenance vehicle, injuring 21 passengers on board and truck driver

A Hong Kong driver has been suspended after a Citybus double-decker collided with a road maintenance truck on North Lantau Highway, leaving 22 people injured.
The incident occurred at about 9.20pm on Thursday on a Kowloon-bound lane near Sunny Bay MTR station.
The E21A Citybus was on its way to Ho Man Tin when it struck the stationary maintenance vehicle, injuring 21 passengers – 12 women and nine men – and the male driver of the truck.
The victims all suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene before being taken to hospitals, according to emergency responders.
“We have already suspended the driving duty of the bus captain involved and will carry out a full investigation according to our stipulated procedures,” a Citybus spokesman said.

He added that the franchised bus company was concerned about the incident and had deployed staff to follow up on the passengers’ well-being at the hospital.
