Hong Kong police are investigating the death of a baby girl whose body was discovered in Victoria Harbour on Wednesday afternoon.

The baby was found unresponsive in the sea off Man Hong Street Playground in North Point after being spotted by a passing 63-year-old worker at about 4pm.

Firefighters retrieved the naked infant from the water near the Independent Commission Against Corruption’s headquarters, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators found no visible injuries on her.

The Eastern district crime squad is investigating the case.

Separately, at around 6.20am, a 73-year-old man was discovered unconscious in the sea near the shore in Repulse Bay.

Members of the public and lifeguards pulled him from the water, but paramedics declared him dead at the scene despite emergency treatment efforts.
