Vehicle fire causes partial closure of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge
Two lanes shut by fire, triggering traffic jams as online footage shows smoke filling the tunnel

A vehicle fire in an undersea tunnel prompted the partial closure of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge for about 40 minutes on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in major traffic disruptions.
The authority managing the bridge said in a social media post that the incident began at 12.58pm when a truck pulled over after one of its tyres caught fire.
“A rapid, coordinated response involving bridge firefighting, road administration, traffic rescue and police units was immediately deployed to the scene,” the authority said.
It added the flames were completely put out by 1.25pm and full traffic capacity was successfully restored 10 minutes later.
It also confirmed that no casualties were reported and the tunnel bound for Zhuhai and Macau sustained no structural damage.
Footage circulating online shows the tunnel filled with thick smoke.
