Fearing she was becoming bald, a woman in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, southern China, did not wash her hair for three months on the advice of a random person online.

The woman, surnamed Ge, was seeking help on social media for insomnia, anaemia and pain in her neck and shoulders after she found her hair became badly matted, video website Star Video reported.

She said her baldness problem began in February and she took advice from some internet users to not wash her hair because she did not like the professional advice she received.

A hair salon said it would charge her 3,000 yuan (US$450) to untangle her hair. It said the price was so high because they planned to use high-quality shampoo and the process would involve several staff.
