A man in China who remarried his former wife the day before she went to the hospital for emergency treatment of a blood disease has struck a chord with millions on mainland social media.

The unidentified man from Shanghai in eastern China said he decided to remarry his ex-wife, whom he had divorced three years prior, after she was diagnosed with aplastic anaemia two weeks ago.

The couple applied for registration of their second marriage the day before the woman went into the intensive care unit at a local hospital for treatment.
