‘Don’t listen to their gibberish’: Chinese teen boy prepares mother for parent-teacher meeting saying no need to pay attention to any complaint from school
- The mother has been applauded online for her positive reaction to the note left for her on her son’s school desk before she met his teacher
- She says she respects her son for trying to protect himself by writing the note and that it was a trivial matter that did not concern her as a parent
A Shanghai woman’s tolerant attitude towards her secondary school-aged son after he left her a note asking her to ignore his teacher’s complaints during a parent-teacher meeting earlier this month has become a trending story on mainland social media.
The Paper reported that the woman, surnamed Deng, respected her son’s request not to take his teacher’s complaints seriously at the meeting.
In a video with the news report, a few students are in a classroom where Deng is seen stopping at her son’s desk and finding his note attached to a drawer.
“Mother, please don’t check my desk. I’ve left you a pen and a small piece of paper. Don’t listen to the teacher’s gibberish,” the son’s note stated with a big smiley face on one side of the text.
Deng said she initially did not notice the note until she looked at the drawer. Despite her surprise, she said that she believed her son had matured as he showed his own judgment.
“He probably is afraid of being criticised when I get home,” Deng told The Paper.
She added that she respected her son for trying to protect himself by writing the note and that it was a trivial matter that did not concern her as a parent.
“I should respect him,” Deng said.
“Every kid has their own potential and intelligence, and I believe my son is the same,” Deng added.
The story received a positive reception among mainland social media users, with many applauding Deng as an example of good parenting.
One person said: “The son must trust his mother very much.”
Another person added: “The mother is a warm-hearted person and has strong common sense. I’m envious.”
