A restaurant owner in eastern China who refused to accept compensation from an elderly man who crashed into his eatery on a motorbike has warmed hearts on mainland social media.

The unidentified restaurant owner from Shandong province went viral for his kindness in recognising the other man’s low income and insisted there be no compensation, Shandian News reported.

The restaurant owner did not complain about the damage and asked if the elderly man was hurt before telling him to go home.

The owner later arranged the repair of the door at his own expense.
