A man in China has won a 77 million-yuan (US$11 million) lottery jackpot by betting on a series of numbers containing the birth dates of his wife and three children.
The man from Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province in eastern China, bought 15 lottery tickets for a total of 30 yuan (US$4) earlier this month.
On each ticket, he bet on the same group of numbers he carefully selected from the birth dates of his wife and three children, according to the Qianjiang Evening News.
On July 11, when the provincial public welfare lottery authority announced the prize winning result, the man, surnamed Wu, found that each of his lottery tickets won the first prize of 5.14 million yuan.
This meant Wu scooped a total of 77.1 million yuan, the highest lottery award in Zhejiang this year, the report said.
Apart from being elated, Wu said he also felt proud of the numbers he chose.
