‘It is fate’: dead-of-night reunion of China dog owner and lost pet during camping trip touches hearts online
- Pet owner tells how just when she thought all was lost, her missing dog appeared out of the dark night as she drove along a road
- After calling in police, handing out missing flyers, and even renting a car to cast doggy dragnet wider, search ends in emotional embrace in the dark

A heartwarming tale in which a lost dog and its owner search for each other and eventually reunite has captured the imagination of mainland social media.
The owner, surnamed Yu, from Zhejiang province in eastern China, lost her pet, nicknamed Baobao, on a camping trip with friends last weekend and spent a whole day and two nights desperately searching for her beloved canine friend.
Baobao dissapeared on the campsite after somehow managing to slip his leash.
For the next couple of days Yu was embroiled in a desperate search for the dog, handing out “missing” flyers, calling in the local police to review surveillance camera footage and even renting a car so she could cast her doggie dragnet over a wider area, Bailu Video reported.
It had reached the point when she thought the dog may be gone for good, but while driving back to her hotel in the dark with her friends who were helping in the search, she saw her pet running alongside the car.

In a video filmed by Yu, Baobao does not stop running until she stops the car.
