A kind teacher in China regularly carries a student home on his back when he falls asleep in class because of a rare medical condition.

Xu Longjun, a teacher at Chongqing Dianjiang Secondary School in southwestern China, was filmed by a surveillance camera carrying a teenage boy on the school campus on March 7, local news outlet cqnews.net reported.

Xu was taking the boy to his car to drive him home where he would be cared for by his grandparents. The child has narcolepsy, an extreme tendency to fall asleep.

Sufferers can become drowsy during the day and it is difficult to wake them.

A very rare disease, narcolepsy affects just 0.03 to 0.16 per cent of the population and while it can strike at any age, is more common among teenage boys, according to news outlet, The Paper.
