A law graduate from China’s prestigious Zhejiang University who spent nearly all of his income on his beautiful wife has been dumped by her after he lost his lucrative job.
The story of the 43-year-old man, identified as Qianqian, has trended on mainland social media after it was reported by the news outlet 163.com.
He had worked as a white-collar worker at a state-owned enterprise in Hangzhou, eastern Zhejiang province, and had a monthly income of 50,000 yuan (US$7,000).
Five years ago Qianqian lost this job for an undisclosed reason and has been working as a delivery rider, making less than 10,000 yuan (US$1,400) a month.
As a result, his wife asked for a divorce.

He told the media that she only loved his money.
“She is the woman I have loved most. Once I thought I would never forget her because I loved her so deeply,” said Qianqian.
“After feeling pain for some time, one day I suddenly realised that she actually does not love me, but instead my willingness to support her materialistic desire,” he said.
Qianqian and his ex-wife, whose name was not released in the report, met online while playing games together.
He said he was aware that many other men were courting her thanks to her striking appearance.

“She finally chose me not because she liked my personality or my look, but because I was quite ready to give her money for whatever she wanted to buy,” said Qianqian.
The man admits that he only appreciated her looks.
“My goal at that time was to occupy her. My dream was to marry her. I did not think much about whether she liked me or not,” he said.
The woman did not work but lived a luxurious life funded by Qianqian.
For example, she would buy three different colours of the same clothing and once bought two designer bags, each costing more than 15,000 yuan (US$2,100).
She used expensive facial cream for her hands and feet and took expensive drugs to maintain her physique. She underwent cosmetic surgery several times.
During their seven-year long marriage they only had sex 7 or 8 times, said Qianqian.
He had to sell his flat to support her reckless spending.
“When we divorced, we did not have any common property because I did not have any money left.”
Qianqian said he is comfortable with his current job of delivering food because he feels “lonely but free”.

In his spare time, he watches live-streams and chats with female hostesses online.
“I do not hate my ex-wife. What I lost during my last marriage is not money, but my precious youth,” said Qianqian.
His story sparked a fevered discussion on social media.
“A man should have a correct self-evaluation. His financial situation does not match her desire,” said one online observer.
While another said: “He wanted to use money in exchange for her beauty, but paid a heavy price. He lost his youth and lost himself. I sympathise with him.”
“He graduated from Zhejiang University and studied law. Can his alumnus find him a better job?” said a third person.
