The Yue Hai district of Shenzhen is home to some of China’s biggest names in technology, including social media giant Tencent, telecoms maker ZTE and drone giant DJI. It’s often called China’s Silicon Valley. Amid the US-China tech war, Chinese netizens are joking that it seems the US government has started this war with Yue Hai instead of China - and therefore it should be district officer who should attend the negotiations with US President Donald Trump. In this week’s Inside China Tech episode, we talk to our Shenzhen-based tech reporter Celia Chen about what people in the Yue Hai district think about this tech war. Should the Chinese buy Huawei phones in support of the company as it faces a US ban? How will the tech war affect China's technology ambitions? Additionally, we have some news - the Inside China Tech podcast is going to undergo a revamp. We will come back bigger and better on July 8, so stay tuned. In the meantime, if you need your China tech podcast fix, rest assured we will be releasing trailers for the upcoming Inside China Tech episodes from now till July 8.
