The Chinese Library in Central does luscious regional menus in grand style

  • Expect a staggering variety of dishes from Zhejiang, Sichuan, Shanghai, Beijing and Guangdong

Located in the 170-year-old East Wing at the recently renovated Central Police Headquarters, the space has plenty of the original fittings, including the wooden floorboards. It feels spacious, helped by the high ceilings; the walls are jade in colour with ornate mirrors, onyx screens, and the table tops are black and white marble.

The regional menu features dishes from Zhejiang, Shanghai, Chaozhou (Chiuchow), Sichuan, Beijing and Guangdong, with some Western touches such as New Zealand lamb and Angus beef. We recommend the crispy Wuxi eel with aged vinegar, barbecued pork loin glazed with Manuka honey and Sichuan grouper chilli broth with glass noodles. There is a full bar with signature cocktails.
