Shanghai embeds traffic lights in the ground for distracted smartphone users

Pedestrians don't have to look up

Shanghai has a new way to deal with absent-minded pedestrians glued to their phones.

The city has embedded traffic lights in pavements and crosswalks, so that smartphone addicts can still see them while texting their friends. The system is on trial at major intersections across the city.
