Tia-Clair Toomey and Sara Sigmundsdottir are level on points after the first two workouts at the Wodapalooza CrossFit sanctional in Miami.
The first workout, called Luce, involved a 1km run, 10 muscle-ups for the men and seven for the women, and 100 squats, all while wearing a weighted rucksack. In the second, Miami Heat, athletes had to burn 30 calories for men, 20 for women, on the assault bike and do 30ft of overhead weighed walking lunges as quickly as possible.
Toomey (Australia) won Luce and Sigmundsdottir (Iceland) finished third. Then Sigmundsdottir won Miami Heat and Toomey came third.
Wodapalooza is one of the most hotly contest sanctionals of the CrossFit season, taking place in Miami, US, between February 20 and 23.
Toomey, 26, has won the CrossFit Games three years in a row, earning herself the title Fittest on Earth. She has won the competition more times than any other woman.
