The CrossFit Open is moving back to it traditionla February and March slot in 2021.

The competition was held at that time in the season until it was moved to Autumn in 2019, but the new CEO is making the switch back.

“Overwhelmingly people want to see the Open moved back to where it was before 2019. So, I'm happy to tell you it will be held in February and March,” Eric Roza, CrossFit CEO, said on a live stream town hall event.

With an earlier Open, the CrossFit Games will move later in the year. Usually it is held in August but Roza has been advised that events will be affected by coronavirus for at least another year.

“It will be later in the year to where it has been traditionally been for the sole important reason that we can maximise the chances that we can have as big a field as possible, and we can, God forbid, have a live audience one of these days,” he said.

The Open is an online competition. Each week for five weeks, CrossFit release a new workout. Participants have to complete the workout and submit a score. If they wish to be competing at the top of the leader board they have to record their workout.
