CrossFit star Tia-Clair Toomey will not compete in the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, despite qualifying for the bobsleigh event, after the Australian selection committee picked a driver with a higher ranking. Toomey announced “ we did it ” on Instagram last week after qualifying with teammate Ashleigh Warner. However, the selection was not official. The Australian Olympic Team have since posted on Instagram: “Meet our #Beijing2022 Bobsleigh team – Bree Walker and Kiara Reddingius.” Australia qualified for two bobsleigh events. Olympic rules state one driver must be used in both events, with Australia seemingly opting for Walker as she is ranked higher than Toomey. She has been winning CrossFit events over the past two summers while learning the sport of bobsleigh from scratch in her winters. Toomey has previously represented Australia in weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games, winning gold, and the 2016 summer Olympics.
