The Open is a three-week online competition. Each week, organisers release a new workout. Athletes have seven days to complete and upload their scores. The top 10 per cent on each continent progress to the quarter-finals, in the first step to qualifying for the CrossFit Games in August.

Thorisdottir won the CrossFit Games in 2012 and has been a popular stalwart of the sport since.
